Independent Home recently completed a walk in tub installation for our customer Colleen G. of Albany, New York. Learn about our installation process and how we are able to provide bariatric customers with comfortable bathing.

Colleen’s installation began with a pre-installation meeting. The meeting consisted of Colleen meeting with the experts and discussing what type of tub would work best for her needs. Colleen was looking for a tub that she would be able to fit in comfortably, as she is a bariatric customer and is being treated for her heaviness. Our installation experts decided that the Supreme Walk in Bathtub model was a perfect choice.

The Supreme model was perfect for Colleen because it is able to hold batheres that are over 300 pounds. The tub is also able to provide Colleen with a safe bathing experience as it has two safety grab bars, a non-slip floor, and a 17” ADA compliant seat.

The installation only took one day to complete. This included removing Colleen’s old bathtub, bringing in the new tub, making sure each leg was level, connecting the plumbing, and making sure that no leaks would occur. During the installation, our experts noticed that Colleen’s water heater could only hold 44 gallons. The Supreme holds 55 gallons. The experts replaced the old water heater to make sure that Colleen would stay warm. With all of that water, our experts also installed a speed drain that will drain the water in less than 90 seconds.

Colleen could not be happier with her new tub. She is able to bathe comfortably with plenty of room to spare.
